Prenzlauer Berg is short on curb space — and full of empty spots behind the gates.
Parking zones have covered this district since 2010, and spots are still scarce. The city won't build new ones — but in those same blocks, courtyards and Tiefgaragen sit empty because someone takes the U-Bahn, or is out of town for the week.
A €15 garage sounds great — until you pull up to a full barrier and end up back on the street. With Rezu, a neighbour's spot is reserved for you: around €12 for a full day in our example, a few blocks from your door.

a full managed day at the curb (Mon–Sat 9:00–24:00): €2/h, €3/h around Kollwitzplatz. With Rezu, a full day costs around €12 in our example, service fee included
the day cap at a commercial garage — if you find a free spot. No reservations, limited capacity; with us the spot is booked and waiting for you

Five parking zones, fifteen hours a day: what parking in Prenzlauer Berg actually costs.
Prenzlauer Berg has been under parking management since October 2010, and in five zones since April 2013. That covers roughly 26,000 kerbside spaces in an area where about 120,000 people live. Here is which zone is where — and what the machine charges.
| Zone | Area | per hour |
|---|---|---|
| 41green | Around Teutoburger Platz and Oderberger Straße, reaching as far as Brunnenstraße into Mitte | €2 |
| 42blue | Between Greifswalder and Danziger Straße, Torstraße and Schönhauser Allee — Kollwitzplatz sits here | €2, €3 at Kollwitzplatz |
| 43red | North of Danziger Straße: Ernst-Thälmann-Park, Helmholtzplatz, Gleimviertel | €2 |
| 44turquoise | Bötzowviertel and Grüne Stadt | €2 |
| 45orange | Around Arnimplatz and Humannplatz, and south of Ibsenstraße | €2 |
Fifteen hours a day, six days a week — Sundays and after midnight the kerb is free. Streets near the Max-Schmeling-Halle charge €4 an hour during certain events.
What does a whole day cost?
Not one hour, but the day the zone actually charges for: 15 hours, 9:00 to 24:00. Here is the arithmetic.
- €30A full day at the kerb15 hours × €2 across zones 41 to 45.
- €45A full day around Kollwitzplatz15 hours × €3 in the priciest stretch of zone 42.
- €15Daily cap, Tiefgarage Kulturbrauerei€1.50 per started hour, €17 from the second day. 247 spaces, no reservations — a Contipark Pcard brings the cap down to €7.
- approx. €12A full day with RezuIllustrative: a €10 owner price plus our 20% service fee, which the renter pays. Not booking data from Berlin.
Honestly: €12 is about six hours at €2 an hour. If you only stay two or three hours, the machine is cheaper — our price starts paying off from half a day. And you only pay the garage's €15 if one of its 247 spaces happens to be free; with Rezu, the spot you book is reserved for you.
The resident permit: what it costs, and what it can't do
Anyone registered as living in one of the five zones can apply to the Bürgeramt Prenzlauer Berg for a resident permit (Bewohnerparkausweis). It lets you park in your own zone around the clock without feeding the machine.
- Fee
- €20.40 for a first issue or a renewal. Any re-issue — new plate, new zone, replacement after a loss — costs €10.20.
- Valid for
- Exactly one zone: the one you are registered in. If you live on a zone boundary you may at least park on both sides of the street.
- How to apply
- In writing, by post, e-mail or fax to the Bürgeramt Prenzlauer Berg. The permit and the fee notice then arrive together by post.
- Visitors
- Guest permits have only been issued case by case, on documented grounds, since 1 March 2021, and the application must arrive at least 7 working days ahead. €10.20 for up to three days, €13 for a week, €25 for four weeks.
The permit is a permission, not a guarantee: it entitles you to park free in your zone — it does not find you a space. Which is why someone is circling the block in the evening while garage bays and courtyards in that same block sit empty. Rezu puts exactly those spaces on the map.
Sources, checked 7 September 2026: Bezirksamt Pankow, “Parkraumbewirtschaftung in Prenzlauer Berg” (zones 41–45, area descriptions, operating hours Mon–Sat 9:00–24:00, roughly 26,000 managed spaces) and “Bewohnerparkausweis” (fees, guest permits). Note: the district's zone article still prints the old 1/2/3 € tariffs — the Fifth Ordinance amending Berlin's Parkgebühren-Ordnung raised them to €2/3/4 an hour on 1 January 2023 (Senate press release, 13 September 2022), and Pankow converted its 800-plus ticket machines in late July 2023.
